Bison Crossing

Fountain Flats, Yellowstone National Park

Bison own the road in Yellowstone, they wander when and where they want with no arguments from visitors or park rangers. These three are part of a large herd that stopped traffic, in both directions, until they all gathered together and wandered off across the flats. Where else but Yellowstone could you ever experience something like this? Bison facts: The bison's thick, shaggy coat is so well insulated that snow can settle on its back without melting.
