The quail are starting to gather together now that nesting season is over and the young have hatched. We've been watching all month for them to show up and finally spotted some today. California Quail facts: Perched on a tree or a fence post, the male California Quail claims his territory by cackling and posturing. The entire family takes to trees for roosting as well as for safety.
