She was sitting on the fence, quietly watching the rest of the flock forage for food and I couldn't have asked for a better model or a nicer pose. These are fairly active birds and finding one who isn't dashing around on the ground is a real bonus! California Quail facts: Several California Quail broods may mix after hatching, and all the parents care for the young.
