Moths are not just the "little brown jobs" of the Lepidopteran world, they vary in size and pattern, colour and habits. While the majority of people think of moths as destructive that is very far from the truth. Some are, of course, but they are in the minority, though they are the ones we always hear about. We don't hear about their role as pollinators, we don't see photos showing us how extraordinarily beautiful they are, or how necessary their larvae are to the survival of songbirds!

Moth numbers are not what they used to be, so it is imperative to be responsible when attracting moths by use of black lights for photography (not collecting!).
