Spined Assassin bug (Sinea diadema)

Reveler Conservation Area

This large and unusual bug has just captured a tiny flower beetle. Assassin bugs are encouraged in gardens by those who know they catch lots of insects that eat plants, such as aphids. These bugs ignore plants entirely and focus on insects.

I have said this before, but this has to be one of the most unattractive insects I've ever seen, and I've come a long way with your photos! Still, it's an excellent capture, although I feel sorry for the beetle ;-). V.

Fascinating capture Christine! Are these insects commonly found in gardens or do we need to "import" them? V
