This young heron was all about taking control. It is one of the first times that I've actually seen a heron chase another one. My past impression has always been that herons are fairly agreeable birds and they tolerate others quite well. Not so today, this one was definitely out to make 'king/queen of the beach'. Heron facts: Herons are solitary or small-group foragers, but they nest in colonies. Males typically choose shoreline areas for foraging, and females and juveniles forage in more upland areas. ~ BirdWeb
