One of our favourite spring flowers, the rhododendron, thrives on Vancouver Island and there are
several public gardens on the island that feature heirloom varieties. Rhododendron facts: There are
more than 1,000 species of rhododendron and they are native to four continents, Europe, Asia, Australia
and North America. Most species are found in cool, mountainous climates but they occur in a variety of
habitats - alpine, coniferous, woodlands, temperate rain forests and tropical jungles - and are found
at elevations as low as sea level. ~ www.encyclopedia.com
