The Wood Ducks have hatched out their babies and they are showing back up on the local ponds and marshes. They are keeping off to themselves right now and I was only able to photograph them in flight coming and going from the group. Wood Duck facts: The Wood Duck is a North American duck and its only close relative is the Mandarin Duck of eastern Asia. Research indicates that the Wood Duck originated in North America, as the only fossil remains that have been found of this species are in widely scattered locations in the eastern part of the continent.
