3/6/08 - Mountain Sentinals

Pinnacle Rocks Overlook, Shenandoah National Park.
One of my favorite stopping places - but there's some sort of wind tunnel effect that takes the usual 15-20 mph winds and doubles them here. One day I plan to sit on my butt and slide a short distance down the mountain in order to get closer to these trees. Getting back up with tripod and gear is the question I have to answer first. I'm sure I could do it easily (relatively speaking) if it weren't for a lot of heavy, bulky, expensive gear.

Excellent misty scene. Maybe get a light monopod for the downhill piece?
