Original photo

View from Skyline Drive looking west across the Shenandoah valley toward the Mannasanutten range which is barely visible through the haze (which on a typical day cuts the visibility to about 10 miles or less - Hey, you guys to the left of us, knock off with the pollution).

Note on the next image - taken with an IR filter - how the haze has basically disappeared.

Nikon Coolpix 5700
1/831s f/5.0 at 8.9mm iso100 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

I remember seeing a photo a few years ago of SF bay shot from the Marin Headlands. I was blown away with what you could see in IR. So much better than either "regular" photography and/or what your eye could see. The hills above Berkeley and beyond were crystal clear in IR and not even visible visually. Great example.

Lovely photo, as always, Ed. Where do you live?
