I worked at Sears for 30 years and started at this store on Biscayne Boulevard. I was there from 1964 until 1969. At our fortieth anniversary in 1969 I created a small booklet that was distributed to our employees at a store-wide meeting. It gave the history of the store. It was very well received. It also celebrated all our employees that had many, many years of service. It was a great place to work and I was thrilled when I saw the beautiful commemorative plaque at the base of the tower that was saved when the building itself was taken down. In 1969 I was transferred to the SearsTown store in Fort Lauderdale but have my favorite memories from this store on Biscayne Boulevard.

I had the pleasure of working at this beautiful building form 1973 to 1979! I was working my way through high school at another beautiful building Miami High. Learned a lot form the Sears organization and bought my first home when I sold the Sears stock I owned.. I remember that we always, always thanked our customer by saying "thank you for shopping at Sears" Today it seems we need to thank retail employes for waiting on us! This building inside and out featured classic architecture never goes out of style.

I remember going there when I was a young girl with my father. I loved the entrance with the pet supplies and aquarium fish. Imy father used to say "if they don't have it at Sears, you don't need it."

I worked at Sears Biscayne from 1965 to 1971 in the main office until I was transferred to the newly built warehouse on NW 25th Street off the Palmetto Exwy. It was a beautiful building and at the employee entrance a sign "Through these doors pass the finest people in the world, our employes!" (not misspelled, Sears always dropped one e from employe, never found out why). It was a joy to work there! Whenever I mentioned I worked at Sears, doors magically opened for 28 years... Those were the days... then in the early 80's they moved the store to International Mall and closed Biscayne. A few years later, Sears donated the land (3 huge parking lots) and the building to the City of Miami (the taxes were outrageous!), and thank God the Tower was saved.... now it's the Arscht Center!

Don't know what you mean by Millionaires Opera House, My wife goes to see some shows with her mother. They pay 60- 90 bucks a show and we are not millionaires, I'm a cop and she's a supervisor far from millionaires. At least the kept the tower... unlike the rest of Miami history being torn down.

Even at 31 today, i still remember going to sears in the early eighties to shop. Igrew up in miami since 1980 exactly and those were the day's. Now, miami with i'ts new look and people doesn't compare to those day's. Specially, the modern architecture. I hate modernism. yuck!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, miami used to be very special until mid to late nighties.
