Naval Air Station (NAS) Miami became Opa-locka Airport in the early 1960's when the federal government gave most of the airport to Dade County for use as a non-commercial general aviation airport.

The aircraft are Naval Aircraft Factory N3N "Yellow Peril" trainers. The N3N served as instrument trainers until 1960.
