At the park

This nice couple, out for a little sunshine and fresh air, kindly
agreed for me to take their portait with my 50mm 1.4 fixed focal length lens.
I didn't tell them about Robin's Challenge (click here) to shoot with a FFL all week.
(The 1000 ISO wasn't part of the challenge - just absent mindedness - again - sigh!)

Portrait orientation - colour

Portrait orientation - b&w

Muslim in Canada?

Um... no problem re the ISO; B&W looks better with lots of contrast...like the sepia.

Very nice portrait. I like the b&w version the best. You should photograph people more - you have an eye for it. I might join the cahallenge. Shouldn't be too hard. 90% of my photos are taken with my 35mm prime.

Kind of like American Gothic gone Middle Eastern. Very nice portrait. I like the b/w. And I am ALWAYS leaving my camera set to a high ISO. :)

Great tones here in this composition. And beautiful light.

fascinating portraits. i keep coming back to the way the lady is clasping her hands. there's some tension there. very interesting.

nice portrait

I do like the first one best, I think. The staggered benches add more depth to the shot..
And I like the sepia in this one.
I'll trade you my 800iso for your 1000 tomorrow ":)

Very nice capture of their kind expressions.

Outstanding image Cliff! The sepia works very nicely. It looks like an old photo.

Me? I like the off-center one ... Looks like a great couple..

Very nice - I like the b/w one - good job!

It's a very sweet portrait, Cliff. I express only my humble personal opinion and it's a simple matter of tastes, but my favourite version is the one in colours, maybe because the colours are a little pastel like and it matches well the gentle loving expression on the couple face.
In all cases a very good shot.
All the best
M.

The first one is my favored in toning. I love their clothing and their culture that you see through those clothing. Wonderful job, Cliff.

Looks quite timeless Cliff, your post editing is superb! Voted.

I must have commented before you finished your presentation this morning. The photo at the top with the close up of the couple is spectacular. They are two beautiful people.

Nice portrait Cliff. Nice looking happy coulple. Glad you've joined the challenge.

Did you use one of the Panatone Tritones... aqua/gold. I personally like the toning of this, gives a soft feel, but you might want to drop down a few tones to burgundy/gold. Subject matter is excellent! I find it so difficult to walk up to someone and ask it I can take their picture.

You are so flexible. And now we all get to see the 3 different approaches on the same page. I'm liking the bottom one a great deal. Thanks Cliff.

Yogi & Robin
This is getting to be a collaborative group effort but I adopted your suggestions. Never let it be said, I can't take advice LOL !
Guest 17-May-2005 18:36
Very nice portrait. I like the composition and the way they're sitting a little off to the side.
Robin Reid17-May-2005 17:57
Excellent portrait and good use of the lens. I agree that a portrait orientation might have been a bit stronger.
Guest 17-May-2005 16:35
I don't know about the yellow tone, Cliff. Nothing wrong with the couple. :) The branch in the foreground is a distraction. Maybe a portrait orientation shot?
Cliff17-May-2005 16:06
You are right Gary - thanks - done!

Wonderful work Cliff... I would crop the top a tad to remove the dark area.

Very nice, Cliff. Looks like the couple who frequent my Park. I portrayed only the man several weeks ago. It looks very nice and old world in this tones.
