Wow, now this is a moment! Damn, this is a m-o-m-e-n-t. Moment.
I normally wouldn't comment on a family portrait image of anybody's, but I remember reading a critique of this photo, some months ago, in which the critic suggested that this photo suffered from a lack of cohesiveness of some type, and that maybe the mother and child needed to share expressions which were more,well,similar to one another. I thought about that criticism, and just filed it away and moved on. But now I've seen the picture again.
The tight cropping creates a palpable level of tension ,and that is magnificent; the boy's expression,priceless.
M-o-m-e-n-t.
