On Tuesday the wind again howled like a banshee all day long, and as I headed out for the evening drake-watch, I noticed a huge smoky cloud on the horizon. I had to drive right into it. I didn't know its origins at the time, but later I learned that the smoke was from a big fire near Idaho National Labs about 50 miles away.
