I'm very happy with my kitchen, now that the modern fitted units are out.
These bricks for the sink supports are the oldest the builder could find and I have two wooden draining boards which are scrubbed clean now and then.
The rest of the kitchen furniture consists of a dresser and a table and 4 chairs. I expect it is still much more grand than a kitchen would have been in the 1600's but it is more in keeping with the house as a whole.
The washboard was a lucky "Junk Shop" find!
One day I might tell the story of the kitchen floor! :)

Wonderful old details, I bet your house is a historical monument. My grandma had a wooden-metal washboard when I was a kid.

Is that a washboard? I've looked for one of those.

Very interesting story about your kitchen and you give us a lovely detail which calls for a larger view of the room !
