The purpose of this gallery is to track Saturn's changing ring tilt over the years.
Due to the planet's ~29.5 year orbit (in Earth years) around the Sun, its ring plane presents a changing view from our perspective.
Note that in 2004, we were seeing the planet's southern hemisphere. In the 2009 photo, the ring plane was nearly edge-on. Starting in the 2011 photo, we're looking at the northern hemisphere. Maximum ring tilt will again occur at the end of summer in 2018.
