Contortionists - front view

Description:    Abstract representations in laminated woods of two creatures who have the ability to contort their bodies.
Woods:Amaranth: purple color and ¾-inch thick.
Avodire: yellow color and ½-inch thick.
Koa: brown color and ½-inch thick.
Vermilion: red color and ¼-inch thick.
        Finish:"Minwax" (fast-drying) Polyurethane, Clear Semi-Gloss.
        Size:8"H x 6"W x 5"D and 6"H x 8"W x 5"D
Notes:The laminated blocks for the two pieces were initially the same size and shape. The main portions of the blocks were approximately 5-1/4" by 6" by 6". Each main block had an end protrusion approximately 2-3/4" by 2-3/4" by 2" to facilitate holding the pieces in a vise for most of the work, and these end protrusions eventually became the "heads" of the creatures. Further notes are inappropriate, as each piece of the pair will speak to the observer on its own.
Lamination:All lamination was achieved by gluing and clamping one contact surface at a time using Titebond II® "WeatherProof" Premium Wood Glue.

other sizes: small medium large original auto
