April 6.

Straw-Necked Ibis.
This was the 1st time I have ever seen these birds.
At a small wetland lake in-between suburbs.

Interesting bird, being bald like that. I guess the hole is the bird equivalent on an ear.
Nice plumage too - would be interesting seeing one with it's wings open.

Neat birds and capture. Love their iridescence and those long curved beaks. What is "chuffed" or should I ask? :)

And I'll bet the'd be just as chuffed to see themselves shown so wonderfully.
(I love that word chuffed, lol!)

Terrific image, tack sharp.

They are ungainly looking birds, especially with those necks - but
fabulous shot of them Sheila, great catching both in the same shot!

We are seeing more & more Ibis & Herons in suburbia too these days...I think the years of drought has caused them to leave their natural habitats for back alley dumpsters :>( We have the Straw-Neck wander around our property from time to time they are very welcome as they are the greatest insect eating bird we have in Aus.

You have some weird creatures down under. Love the touch of colour on the black feathers.
