This alleyway really is very grey to start with, and I love the potential for a looming effect of the buildings with all their pipework and ducts over the alley. I went there this time specifically with the idea of getting shots including the ground but losing the tops of the buildings into the light which is so bright "up there" compared to the alleyway. I didn't make any adjustments to the colour or saturation. The yellow T-shirt is a really lucky bonus (but I'm taking credit for being there with the camera).

Yes, I really think she is. Praiseworthy composition and mood capture. Little details help ... a couple of birds help keep the mid-scene from being too barren and an almost impressionist suggestion of the shirtless guy staring up the alley add a little more focus and potential for contemplation too. I enjoy the way the whole photo converges on the mood of the woman. Beautifully done. I have to guess whether this grey bleakness emerged naturally or from editing, which means if it's an edit it's superb and if it's a natural capture it's superb too.
