The Jock River, a tributary of the Rideau River, is named after a Frenchman named Jacques who drowned in it in the early 19th century. It is 72 kilometers (45 mi) long and originates south of Franktown, Ontario in the Goodwood Marsh and empties into the Rideau River north of Manotick, in Ottawa, Ontario. The Jock River watershed drains 551 square kilometers (213 sq mi).
