On 10 October 2024, another powerful solar storm brought a spectacular display of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) to the Northern Hemisphere.

Living at 45°N latitude, auroras are sometimes visible, but typically they don't get too far above the horizon. The aurora of 10 October 2024 was the second one I saw this year that the red component mostly covered the sky and this time there were almost no clouds.
