23-OCT-2006 Dave Beedon and Joe Tripod

Obligatory self-portrait at the start of the hike

Negro Bill Canyon (near Moab, Utah)

It was a bit chilly early on this October morning. I had to wear a vest to avoid
shivering. My assistant, Joe Tripod, doesn't ever shiver, for which I am grateful.

Larry, thanks for the kind words.
The fin landscape is beautiful in its bizarreness and the call of the fins has been unrelenting since that April discovery. But what is amazing is that I have seen only a small portion of the fin landscape around Moab. To borrow the phrasing of a certain general's speech in World War 2, "I came out of the fins and I shall return."

Steve:
Joe Tripod knows what he is about and possesses a confidence based on my relationship with him. His feelings would not be hurt by my using a monopod, another tripod, a beanbag, a clamp, or any other supporting or bracing device. Revenge is not in his vocabulary.

Dave, I will not joke about this one.
I see it as a beautiful place to be.
I am truly envious of this trip.

Lee answered my question when I first glanced at this--Is that a monopod! My second thought was, "Will Joe tolerate the intruder--the nerve to place itself in the picture!--and is he capable of revenge"?

Dave, so much enjoy your comments on your photos. You have cracked up my wife who punched me in the shoulder and asked "Are all you photographers like this?"
Dave Beedon04-Jan-2007 07:23
Lee, please do not say things that could upset him.
Lee G04-Jan-2007 07:17
He would shiver if he didn't think doing so would cause you to replace him with that monopodic stick!
