To mark the 70th anniversary of The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, a mural of the last survived commander of the uprising, Marek Edelman (1919-2009), have been painted in Warsaw.
He was a Jewish-Polish political and social activist, cardiologist.
He is holding a yellow daffodil, as every year on the anniversary he used to bring those flowers to the ghetto locations and so they became a symbol of the Ghetto fight.
The mural was unveiled in Nowolipki street in Warsaw, the center of former Ghetto.
It was created by Dariusz Paczkowski, a co-founder of the "NEVER AGAIN" Association.
Marek Edelman's quotation: "Basically, the most important thing is life. And when there is life, freedom is the most important thing. And then one sacrifices one’s life for freedom..."
