Church of St. Joseph of the Visitationists commonly known as the Visitants' Church built in 1664-1761 with late Baroque facade, which has been lately nicely renovated.
On the left, a monument to Primate of Poland, Stefan Wyszyński, often called the Primate of the Millennium.
Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski (1901-1981) was primate of Poland from 1948 to his death.
He was placed under house arrest during the Stalinist period, and freed by Gomulka in 1957, with whom he negotiated an agreement concerning the position of the Church under the communists.
He also negotiated an agreement allowing Pope John Paul II to visit Poland in 1979 and nominally supported the Solidarity Labor Union.
His statue stands where Varsovians had maintained a cross made of flowers for years in silent resistance to the communist authorities.
