pbase Fetch in the snow December 31 2009 IMG_0954.jpg

December 31 2009 - this is the last post for my 2009 PAD. It is not one of my best shots, but it does tell a story. Despite the steady snow, all Moki wants to do is retrieve. We played outdoors until my feet were soak and I was covered in snow. He is currently laying down in his crate not understanding why I can't spend hours out doors throwing the flying squirrel. Think about the simplicity - all that makes him happy is running after an orange piece canvas (a ratty one at that). He runs. Times his leap to catch it in mid-air. An act of perfection. He is very proud of that feat. If everything could be that simple, but alas it is not or is it? This exercise of trying to take a picture a day has taught me so much in the last five years. Some days are crap shots - really just a mental note of the day for me. It does remind me to stop, take a look at this day, and remember this will not happen again. Spend time in the moment. Watch the snow, that sunrise, or your obsessed dog jumping at the perfect moment to grab that ratty piece of orange canvas that is worth pure gold to him. Happy New Year! Now on to 2010, a new decade --

So on to the sixth year of doing this - forcing myself in this hectic existence to stop and be part of the day. That is why I keep doing this.

Few Fun facts about 2009

Number of trips - 7 trips, a total of 26421 miles - 34 segments flown on US AIRWAYS

Where did I go? Atlanta (twice), DC (twice) California, Denver, Chicago (stranded in O'Hara), and Florida

My deepest thanks to persons who take the time to say hi-- Pbase is wonderful community of photographers. And I believe the web site is back on track.

Great shot of the snowy tree and the eager Moki. Lucky Moki to be able to spend his life doing something he loves.
Happy New Year and all the best for 2010.

What a great way to end your Pad for 2009. Thanks for sharing all your fun facts. I really love the photo too. The black and white with just a hint of color is great. You obviously practice what you preach. (ie photography quotes).
