One doesn't expect to find a gardenia in a strip mall. I found this one as I was shopping this morning.

What an unusual find for a strip mall. I can still remember the fragrance from some of my high school gardenia corsages, lovely at first but after a while it becomes almost over powering.

Definitely my top favorite flower ... I know it well and I looooove the fragrance. I've seen whole hedges around houses down in Southern Florida (Fort-Lo/Naples) where it is quite common. Here, I have to be happy with hand soaps that has the Gardenia fragrance :(((
