This is bridge is a typical example of the old wooden constructed bridges that you can still find on the backroads of southern Vancouver Island. Usually built from timbers supplied by a nearby mill, they were originally used by logging trucks for hauling logs to the mill from the bush. Gradually the roads and bridges became the main links between small settlements and towns.
