A covey of quail surprised me while I was setting up for a scenery shot and I quess things were so quiet that for a change they didn't run or fly away. Lucky me...I got some up close shots for a change! California Quail facts: Multiple California Quail broods may mix after hatching and are attended by all of the parents of those broods. Adults that engage in communal brooding live longer than adults that do not.
