In Search of Dinner

Firehole River, Yellowstone National Park

Watching an Osprey take-off, dive into the river and come out with a fish is a sight to remember. Here I caught the take-off, missed the dive and the Osprey missed the fish...so I guess we all came out even. Osprey facts: The Yellowstone National Park Osprey population continues to show signs of a population caught in a serious downward trend over the last six years. Small age cutthroat trout, a major food source for Ospreys have severely declined on Yellowstone Lake, adding to existing weather variables that influence the Osprey population. ~ http://www.nps.gov/yell/naturescience/specialconcern.htm
