Thank you to a website visitor for the photo contribution and these details about Art Records: "Art Records was owned and operated by Harold Doane in partnership with Mitch Lebow. Starting in 1945 Harold Doane recorded many of the acts appearing up and down Miami Beach from his headquarters in the Cadillac Hotel. Later he moved his studios to Miami (NW 79th Street then NW 119th Street) and finally late in his career he located in Broward. Many local artists of the late 50's and the early to mid-60's recorded for Harold Doane and his labels, AFS, Art and Perfect. Just to name a few that I can recall there was Wes Hardin and the Roxters, Blind Blake Higgs, Roger Smith, Russ Samuel and the Vanguards, Trudy Lawrence, The Stereos and Big Ed Cooper." In a subsequent e-mail he states: "I did think of a few more names of local artists Doane recorded on AFS 45's: Mike Shaw had a local hit with a song called "Long Gone Baby" (on Art I believe), Kent Westberry, (teamed with Snuffy Smith and toured as "Kent & Snuffy"), The Teacher's Pets (recorded with The Vanguards and others), Tom Spurlin, Bey Ireland, and even "Happy Harold" Thaxton (TV & radio guy) recorded for Doane (Perfect Records).
