I am a girl. my father was similar Robert smith of the cure. my dad is dead when I and 2 my brothers were babys. my dad would be of the same age of Robert, if he was alive. and now Robert is like our dad and I & my brothers love him like our father. I call him daddy Robert. . . will he annoy from me if to understand that I call him mine dad?
I speak with his photos everynight and to weep when to want to sleep.

When I first heard of you and your music I felt I found my way and a place on this so called "life." I love you soo much Robert you saved my life soo many time's when I thought life was nothing you gave me something to believe in and i will forever believe in you you and everything and anything.

Hello fellow Cure fans. I was wondering if any die-hard fan out there knows if there is any particular significance behind the symbol/logo that is used to represent the Trilogy concert. It appears to be the Greek letter "Phi" but I can't figure out if they picked that letter or if they just made/chose a design that was coincidentally the letter and for what reason. Thanks!

Please don't misunderstand me. I like the cure taking new directions. I like noise, and raw emotions. But even great artists try stuff that doesn't work out sometimes. And I got this feeling hearing the B-sides of taking off. (I was just commenting on these B-sides) Curious by the way that every album song got indepth analysis and multiple comments and the B-sides fade away silently.... and did anyone pay attention to the fact that after 4 years of waiting for Bloodflowers we got 9 songs and after 4 years waiting for The Cure we got 17 songs so far...
By the way I just unwrapped my 3IB deluxe and the 2nd disc starts awesome. Haven't heard everything yet but adrenaline starts boiling over already.

my goodness luuk...respectfully, i disagree with your feelings in respect to the new cure material. i can not fathom the idea of the words "cure..music..and crap" belonging in the same sentence! dont misunderstand me, everyone is indeed entitled to their own oppinions. however, i could never label any artistic work or effort as "crap." its important to realize that every piece of musical composition is a work of art, born from a genuine place within the artist. its important to recognize the music for its origin, not just a particular sound that you might not consider "pretty" or "good."

i am fond of the new cure material-i think it represents a brand new approach into the world of the cure and all of the band's possibilities and sounds. the music is much harder and raw compared to a lot of their past work. i think ROBERT is very successful in conveying a new, untouched emotion that hasnt necessarily been open to cure fans before.

dont be so quick to dismiss its credentials!

"God I miss the free polls comments". Anyway Nov 09 and the Cure is still intact. Just got the Taking off single for the B-sides and I'm sorry but they're crap. Why can't I be Me starts off promising but goes flat after 30 seconds and Your God is Fear I can't even recall after 10 listens. The melodic quality of the new material is (and I hate to say this) is weak. Starting to re-appreciate Bloodflowers. Please Robert take a break, read some philosophy, think of a couple of good tunes, and hey.... please restore the long intros.

I met the Cure and people make a big deal about his weight but Robert hasn't changed that much. In my opinion, I think he's just right. He's got a wonderful sense of humor - I enjoyed it when he took over a radio station in San Diego (91X) and was guest DJ for 2 hours before the Curiosa show. I loved the comments he would make about "the adverts" (advertisments/commercials) and how come 91X had to play them. The sound of his voice and his choice of words or just the way he talks, really got to me and had me wanting him to guest DJ again. Most of all, I liked the way he made us stay seated @ the lunch tables at the "Meet and Greet" and came around to each and every one of us to sign autographs. Very nice, Robert, thank you.

I'm new to all this and at first I couln't believe it. I've loved Robert and the Cure for more than 20 years but never could share my love with anyone. Now it's so good to find out I'm not crazy and that others feel the same. I'm from Italy and here we are cut off from many things. I didn't even know that someone had made nasty comments about Robert ageing and gaining weight. It's mean! Robert doesn't deserve to be hurt like that. All right he has gained weight and doesn't look the way he did at 25, but nobody does. I don't. It does make me a bit sad to see him changed, but he's still Robert and deserves respect. His voice is beautiful and his eyes enchanting as always. And I think he still is lovely and sexy and tender. I too die when I see him, only I don't allow myself to fantasize about him, il would make me suffer because he will never be mine.
I love you Robert. You are beautiful. Just keep on being the wonderfully talented musician and the sweet man you are. Your music fills my heart and makes me cry.

spoken like someone who's never had to deal with unwanted suitors. it's just not polite to talk explicitly about a stranger - if someone you don't know is posting about what they want to do to your naked body in a public forum it can feel very threatening and intrusive. and famous people often have to deal with crazy stalkers, which can make them feel even more threatened. contrary to popular belief, fame does not make anyone immune to negative emotion - if it did, the cure wouldn't write such utterly fantastic music, that's for sure!

I have been a fan for 15 years and I never ever ever ever ever found robert sexy until I saw them in chicago. I was in the pit and then it just hit me! These girls were going a little crazy and at first I didnt get it. I thought "this is a man with make-up and weird hair." and then it hit me. "this is a man with make-up and weird hair." that is what is sexy!!!! but beyond all the teenager hype (and I am not a teenager) the band is great musically still and for that we should all be so grateful! the new album is excellent. Robert has the voice - the lyrics - the smile- the eyes - the PRESENCE and women love him! Men too in case you haven't noticed. Has any one noticed Roberts absolutly pinchable cheeks?! I went to the show in mansfeild, and althought was in the 4th section(very far back) I could tell the whole night how cute and cuddley he is. Robert doesn't see himself as sexy ----- but then why does he do sexy poses? I think it's fun to talk about every aspect of the band from the music to the appearances. Robert and Simon are very sexy. Perry and Roger and Jason are very cute too! The Cure is a cute band! Why do people have a problem with that. I love to look at pictures of Robert. For an older guy he has aged definitely well. Even with his extra weight he looks very nice, maybe even nicer than before!!! They all look good. But Its always the music we go back to. Without such beautiful music the Cure would be just another cute band with no substance. But they are not. They make magical music and their concerts are just so good. I have been to two concerts so far and want to go to more Curiosa festivals. Thank you Robert, for making this such a special tour.

I am certain that those whom posted something here regarding the appearances of a 40 something band may actually re-read their post and feel the shame and remorse for such postings (we will call it afterthought), and that there are ALOT people not so caught up in The Cure's appearance. I am only assuming here, as I know there are many clues, some have ZERO so far, and still have to catch up for only a span of 20+ years...you may want to start looking for those clues! I am not the winner, it remains unclaimed ok? OH-WHAT-THE-CURE- has done over the years...is tremendous. How in the world did a girl like me (living in Kansas for 8 years, listening to only the top 40 in 1984-the early 1985's, moved to another state in 1985) HAPPILY discover The Cure===> by a small college radio station!??! I was hooked! I was floored! I have never ever heard anything like it! I remember going into a record store and browsing cassettes wondering which Cure to get! I WAS EXCITED, broke and wanted to spend what little $$ I had on The Cure! Distinctly, when I got Head On The Door, then Standing on the Beach, I played it over and over and over and over! again. I never got sick of it! Then there was Disintegration, I was like YOWSA! oh, yipee they are playing Love Song on the radio and they had a vid of it toooo...well, that only lasted a month, and then I had wished they had never been on the radio or made a video of it! MIXED and WISH, or when I had to special order Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me (cassette), I was stoked with IN ORANGE, found it on VHS, hugged it, and watched ALOT... oh how the memories go on and on! In 1996, the Wild Mood Swing Tour (I WANTED THE CURE TO PLAY THE 13TH! But, they did not!), Robert Smith actually touched my hand! I cannot tell you what hand he touched but he seemed mostly intrigued by the reflector I wore. I knew right then and there I did not want to be a groupie nor did I want to know The Cure "in person". They would just remain a mystery and that was fine with me! I think the worse part about this site is the Close Encounters, like these people shown in the pictures are smiling BIG in the photos but The Cure Fellows are not (really smiling- more like the excruitating "lets get this over with", or "I need a drink"), what a bummer they have to be swooned or made to be like Aliens, and the people shown are like, "I have a photo of me and ROberrt Smith Yipee!" Oh, good for you, but who really knows any of the guys from The Cure. No one here that I can guess. So, why don't we just cut up the rug and decide together we do not like The Cure for how they appear or what they are like in their private lives. It may only be that we like them because they changed our lives with their music and possibly made us look forward to something. >YES THANK YOU FOR SOME KIND OF HAPPINESS===>THE CURE - the end!

Why in the world would people (.....i dont think they were "fans really) say those horrible thing about robert?!!! He's so beautiful!!! It shouldn't matter what he looks like, as long as he still has his personality and can write wonderful songs! You should know better. I would just like to add that what those "fans" (yeah right) said about robert was about as low as you can get. I'm 13 years old and even I know that to judge people by their appearence is about the most horrible thing you can do to some one. Especially such a sweet and brilliant person. I am extremly ashamed of those who would say such things and hope it never happends while I am alive!

I agree that I was mortified when I read all the nasty comments about Robert's appearance. I also felt horrible when I thought of him reading them. To me, true fans would not care so much if he gains weight, which is part of growing older. Those comments reminded me that when you're in the public eye, you're not allowed to be human, that is, gain weight and grow older because your "fans" will never forgive you for it. I happy to see that people came to Robert's defense. He is still attractive to me because of his beautiful voice and eyes. I think he is actually sort of cute pudgy. As for 20-year-olds swooning over a 45-year-old, well, I have had a huge crush on David Bowie since I was 14. I don't find that concept odd at all.
