Giant Mushroom

Have you ever seen a mushroom this big? Grew in two days from freshly
cut tree stump (in my back yard—15 inches across).
Wish I knew if it was edible.

Google Lens says it's Dryad's Saddle, but one should never rely on IDs like that. It helps to know what the gills look like. See if there is a mushroom enthusiasts' group in your area. If you take good pictures of the top, bottom and cut through the mushroom and photograph the flesh that would help with the identifying. It is truly amazing how fast mushrooms grow.

What a gorgeous shoit. This is called Dryad's Saddle! A polypore. They are apparently edible when very young (small) but quickly attract beetles who lay their eggs in the fungus. Anyway, I never pick or eat wild mushrooms, you just never know! V
