A pure white rose really isn't. You can see the light shades of pink and yellow on the various petals. The lighting was really good for this. Per EXIFS, it was near 4:00 pm, so the light was not directly overhead, and thus "more gentle". And as Dave said, the 80D captures color really well. Even at ISO 500 as this was, the color is maintained well. These are kind of photos where a calibrated monitor brings out the beauty.
The different shades of white I did not think possible, or possible to separate...certainly the camera counts, but so also does the existing light....and you, all combined and a perfect moment...this can seem weird in the occurrence and perfection. Traveller (here to help)
Thanks, both (though I'm still working through the "weirdly"). The camera deserves much of the credit for the quality of the whites. I think the result is very close to the appearance of the real thing.
We have about the same number, Jim. While we have no plans to move, I'm sure we will miss them when we do. We inherited some nice garden elements from the previous residents and will be happy to pass along what we add during our tenure.
