Two Towers in Sedona

Merged subjects : One in B&W, one in color.
Note also the transitions of composition - red rock with layers of white limestone.
The B&W was done with Nik and high contrast.

Oh well, it was worth the experiment.

Paul, The more I look at this the more it looks weird to me.
It will fly into Exhibition one of these days.

Jim I remember that photo of your grandkids and really enjoyed the creative effort you put into it. On this one it's a simple little thing but what I like most about this is the small subtle patch of greenery you left between the two rocks in the black/white section in the lower center of the photo. Like selective color. Paul

Dave - I haven't decided yet if I really like it or not. The comparison to Warhol is good. Years ago, I did a version of this with my granddaughter standing in front of a large mirror. It was all in color, but two different sets of clothes on and hair styles. I liked that a lot better than this one.

I was playing with this one to see which processing brought out the different layers in the rocks. I have a better example of that which I am still playing with.

Kinda reminds me of an Andy Warhol work. I'd like to see the technique use on mirror images of the same subject (perhaps a person).

Thanks. This was fairly straightforward. I processed the full color image in Lightroom, then opened it as a tiff in Photoshop. I then created a new layer, turning the color into B&W using the Nik plugin. I then used Topaz Mask AI to select only the righthand tower. Since it was a layer on top of the color, it showed as you see it. The hardest part of any of these masking techniques is to fix the edges. I worked a while on this one.

Now look who is being super creative? A clean, clean merging...what were the steps for merging if they are not too long...Best Wishes, Traveller
