Long flights don't dissuade me as; I have already been to South Africa, New Zealand, Israel, and Southeast Asia.

Thanks for your comments Paul.
Dave, I'm sure you'd enjoy a visit. Having flown from Melbourne to LA and back twice, I can state that it's a long flight though (15 hrs).
Regards
Michael

I see lots of birds around Melbourne Park as I watch the tennis. Looks like a very nice city. Gotta get to Australia one of those years.

Although I like the swallows this one I love, excellent work Michael. I was going to ask if you were using a better beamer but after you said 2 meters i knew it wasn’t needed for that close. Paul

Thanks Jim.
Dave, there was no aggression involved and we were very close - maybe 2 metres. It's not apparent from the pose, but the gull was actually more or less hovering. There were quite a few of them, hoping to be fed, but I concentrated on this one.
The beach is at Altona, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia, where I live. Regards, Michael

Fill flash - what a good idea on a BIF.

Nice. I hope that glare wasn't a prelude to an attack. How far away were you? I don't think I've ever been close enough to a bird in flight to contemplate using flash. Finally, what beach is that?
