A nice little lens that is surprisingly sharp and excellent bokeh. Depending on which camera body, the lens may be soft on one end. Subsequent investigation has shown it to be more of a camera body focus calibration issue, not the lens (sharp at the wide end on my S5 Pro and soft on my S Pro). So for the price and IQ, this lens (and even more so for the VC version) is definitely "best-bang-for-the-buck" AND it works on full-frame cameras too! True, the build may be 'cheap' but then that's what it is meant to be - Economical! The great thing is that is it good optically and meant for light casual work, not hard full-time pro-level work. Take care of your equipment and it will take care of you (all the way from the way it works to value during re-sale), that's all I can say... (The VC version BTW, is uber-sharp from 28mm to 200mm on my 5D, and soft at 300mm until f11. I'm planning to get the Nikon version to try though it's still not out yet, perhaps in June...)

Like all recent Tamron lenses this one is also fitted with the cheepie plastic mount socket. Those sockets are reinforced with a molded in aluminium ring.
All over a cheepie design that fits Canon's 300 and 350 Cameras like a fist on the eye. In simple words ... plastic, plastic plastic !!!
Are we going towards a cheepie junk quality lens generation with digital SLR's becomming more and more popular. I do still not consider a lens as a throw away item. So, why this Dinky Toys design and quality suddenly.
