"The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is undergoing significant changes. The Trump administration has proposed major cost-cutting measures, including reducing services and considering privatization. One of the biggest shifts includes cutting 10,000 jobs and replacing aging delivery trucks with electric vehicles. There's also talk of merging USPS with the Commerce Department, which has raised concerns among unions."

USPS is making changes that seems to be affecting mail delivery in our area. The first round of adjustments started on April 1, 2025, and many customers are experiencing slower delivery times. All I can say is that it now takes more than 3 full days to get something from the in-city central mail distribution center to the local post offices in the Metro. By car, that's a 5-to-30-minute drive, depending on which Metro post office. Three days!!! This doesn't even count the time that the mail may end up stuck in other post offices along the way. Something from just the east side of Missouri can now take 8 days (or more!!!) via the USPS to reach its destination on the west side of Missouri 250 miles away. Things didn't used to be this way.
