A Sad Day 8-13-23

One of the main, very large branches of our beloved Bradford Pear tree broke off in this morning's thunderstorms. The tree is still alive, but the entire center has been destroyed. The tree is now a shadow of its former self.

This has been my favorite tree in our yard. It has always been there - four seasons a year - for me (for over 22 years) as a notable photo subject. As one of our very first trees, we planted this Bradford Pear as a mere twig way back in the 1980's. I'm not sure what will happen now. She's been broken before but has always managed to come back... Hopefully, that can happen again. If it does, it will take years for her to look good again - if ever.

I sure know the feeling, planting it yourself and now knowing that it will never be the same in your lifetime

I suggest you make something using some of the wood from the limb.. something you can have in the house to keep a nice memory
