It was clear that this doe considered the little grove of trees to be her personal property, and she walked right up to me and started eating the fresh shoots at my feet. I had to back up a little to fit her whole head in the picture!

Just then another deer walked into the grotto, and deer #1 took out after her like a dog chasing a cat! They disappeared faster than I could snap the shutter. Then within seconds the original deer came back and resumed browsing. After that little temper display, I gave her more room, lest she think I was encroaching on what was obviously her private garden.
