Washington's mostly wild Olympic Peninsula is surrounded by water on three sides; by the Pacific Ocean on the west, the Strait of Juan de Fuca on the north, and the misnamed Hood Canal on the east. The north end of the peninsula was our initial destination. We based ourselves for several days at Salt Creek Recreation Area, right on the strait. What a fabulous place. And I think we had the best spot in the whole campground.
