The brown drake hatch lasts only a few days, and I knew that I had already missed at least the bulk of it. Asking around the local fly shops, I was told that there still might be a few in certain spots. So with high hopes, I donned my headlamp and was on the river just before the sun set. The wind died away, and the colors of dusk settled over water and sky as I waited.
