Propane Tank
The reason it is rusted is that during the October 2004 Wild Fires it began raining hot embers and ash in our area. At that point the fires were less than two miles away.
I was in the backyard hosing down anything flammable and saw the propane bottles for the grill and remembered that they would explode if the temperatures became too hot, so I threw them in the swimming pool. That's how they became rusted. They still work fine.
We were very fortunate that the fire fighters were able to stop the fires about a mile from our house.
We had a big mess to clean up, but were spared the fate of many others who lost their homes and some who lost their lives.
