JUNE 1972 LARRY DAVID BRADEN

BLAST FROM THE PAST

Warren, Michigan

My younger brother, Norm. We just returned from a union meeting.
We worked for Brigg's, manufacturing bathtubs, sinks, etc.
We made them for every vendor. Sears, Wards, etc. just slipping them into a
different box with their company name.
If you've ever taken a bath you probably used a Briggs.

That generation Camaro (early 70's) is probably the rarest (you just don't see any) except now that Papa John found his!. Nice to see one as new. My parents used to have a Briggs toilet! I just replaced it with a Toto.

Several months (not years) in Berkeley and Denver. Then I went back to the Midwest (Indianapolis) to seek gainful employment since I was completely broke.

Looks a lot like me when my hair was its longest. Generally, I kept it cut shorter because I was always working with a bunch of rednecks it those days. Except for the summer of 1972, when I quit my job in Louisville, hitch-hiked out West, and spent several years of mostly care-free months in Berkeley and Denver. Occasionally did odd jobs through Manpower in Denver (on Wazoo Street, later a victim of Urban Renewal). First person I saw when I was let off in Berkeley was a bearded lady carrying a bunch of balloons. At least I think "she" was a lady...

I remember these hairstyles and clothes. We thought we were so hip. We must've been since kids now are imitating that era. :) Nice car too.

You guys are so cool! Love that car.

My hair was about the same length, I was a junior in high school and had just met a cute girl that I later married. Cut the hair a couple of years later for a job. Your brothers car was much cooler than my yellow 1963 Corvair Monza.

It was fun to let my hair grow down to my shoulders, but I hated the effort to take care of it. Laziness triumphed: I went back to a short hair style. In June of '72 I was the Unit Mail Clerk at the 563rd Ordnance Company in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Again, really nice restoration (I assume, otherwise that red held up really well!). Looks like just yesterday...

Wow...that was a whole lifetime ago. Weren't we a cool and cocky generation? I would certainly have been cooler with a nifty car like that, but I had a pretty sharp hat. I don't care what anybody says...I still think that guys looked good with hair that way. It doesn't fit in as well nowadays, but back then...yeah.

Thanks for posting this, Larry. It is a very pleasant blast.
