10. Transitions in History at CampTulelake

Tulelake, CA

This small group of buildings was originally built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 30's to give jobs to unemployed craftsmen and artisans. After WW II broke out, it was used as a Japanese Internment Camp for "Disloyals" from the nearby Newell Internment Camp (Evidently the rowdiest folks from down the road.) Thirdly, it was used as a Prisoner of War Camp for German and Italian POW's. Now it lies in disuse with a small sign from the National Park Service.
