B of F map 43 attempt

This is my unsuccessful attempt to duplicate the black and white images from the book "The Beauty of Fractals." The B&W images in that book show very crisp detail, in a way that I am unable to duplicate.

This plot is my attempt at Map 43, from page 85 of the book. The plot is centered on -0.745195, 0.112675, at a width of -1.43E-3.

My attempt plots all pixels with an iteration value of 147 or greater as black. This attempt does not come close to the crisp detail shown in the map in "The Beauty of Fractals."

I've since found information on how these plots were created in another book, "The Science of Fractal Images." That book states that the black and white images are created using the Distance Estimator Method, or "DEM". An algorithm, including pseudo-code, is shown on pages 196 - 199 of that book.
