The chateau was built in 1908 and had a chequered history before being destroyed by fire in 1986.
It is known especially for offering refuge to Jewish children whose parents had been deported to concentration camps during WW11.
It has also been a private dwelling and a family holiday camp.
Sadly Chateau Chaumont now stands in ruins.
March 7th - apparently the chateau has, just this week, been auctioned for 50,000€, about 70,000 US $ or c: £42,000 !!
For this you would have the chateau, two cottages, 25 acres and a 4x4 Ford - but you would need thousands for the renovation!
The photographs in this gallery are part of an exhibition on display in our local library.
