Roma Leah Trobaugh

So it's been 40 years today - May 22, 2003 - since our infamous class graduated from Central High School! A good time to review through the years that seem to have flown by!

I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and then went to Vanderbilt University where I received a master's degree in audiology. I met my husband at the medical center there and we will be celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary this fall! He is a medical physiologist who is presently working at the Dept. of Veterans' Affairs in D.C. We have a married daughter who lives in Los Angeles. She has a master's degree in environmental science and works for the Federal Aeronautics Administration. Our son is graduating from high school in June and will be attending Virginia Tech in the Dept. of Engineering in the fall.
I have always worked in healthcare and owned an audiology business for 20 years. Recently wanting a change of pace I sold my business and am presently working in a hospital administering the infant hearing screening program. We test over 4,000 babies per year!

My hobbies include jogging, biking, golf and gardening. I continue to love both the outdoors and travel and try to combine the two when I can. My most memorable and exciting was a backpacking trip with my son. We hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon camping out at Phantom Ranch a couple of nights and then hiked back out! Our family has also taken 2 different horseback riding trips into Wyoming and Montana with a guide and pack mules carrying our supplies for the week. We spent our time in the wilderness horseback riding and taking photos of wildlife. Our last exciting trip was to Costa Rica where we stayed at the Corcavado Tent Lodge and were able to watch monkeys in the wild playing in the rainforest canopy. We also went whitewater rafting on the Rio Pacuare.

Each summer I participate in the Cycle Across Maryland riding 50 or 60 miles each day for a week camping out at night. It is like a camp for adults and such fun!

I'm so disappointed I won't be able to attend this special reunion (may need a walker by the next one - ha) but it coincides with my son's high school graduation and festivities! With his leaving a new chapter is beginning to unfold for me!

A toast to the best Central High School class - the class of 1963!!
